Hallym Academy of Sciences
The Hallym Academy of Sciences is an academic research institute established in 1990 by the late Dr. Deok-sun Yoon who is the founder of Hallym University. Comprehensive academic projects embracing humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences have been performed focusing on prominent senior professors and promising researchers in the academia. 122 volumes of the “Hallym Academy Series” have been published in the early days by prominent researchers in humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences fields contributing to the development of academics. The Hallym Academy of Sciences has opened horizons of Korean humanities and social sciences in the 21st century, and has devoted to academic projects that suggest current social issues and solutions. The “Structure of Trust and Distrust in Korean Society” (National Research Foundation of Korea Key Research Institute, 2000–2006) has been successfully performed, conceptual research on Korea and East Asia has started in earnest in 2005.

Institute of Asian Culture Studies
The purpose of Hallym University Institute of Asian Culture Studies is to set the direction for the development of Korean culture by developing studies through research on overall history including society·literature·health of Asia including Korea and exploring the status and meaning of Korean culture in Asia. Since establishment, the institute has accumulated various academic achievements including research, academic events, publication of various research materials, data collection (especially in communist regions), and surveys for community research receiving support of approximately KRW 10 billion annually as a core research institute of Hallym University.

Taedong Center for Eastern Classics
The Taedong Center for Eastern Classics is an educational institute for classical Chinese literature which was established in 1963 by the first director, Cheongmyeong Im Chang-sun. This center has established courses focusing on classical Korean and Chinese literature based on the Four Books and Three Classics aiming to train the best professional researchers in each field of Oriental studies better than any other Korean classical studies institute. The center was run privately by Director Im Chang-sun in the early period of establishment, and passed the period of receiving support from the Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies. Afterwards, the institute converted to the Taedong Center for Eastern Classics in 1985 through the financial support agreement with the first chairman of Hallym University, Ilsong Deok-sun Yoon. The institute has produced 243 graduates since this history including approximately 60 university professors and 100 Ph.D. Graduates in various academic fields focusing on Oriental studies.

Research Institute for Regional Cooperation
The Research Institute for Regional Cooperation has been established in October 2022 with the goal of “contributing to the exchange and cooperation projects between local governments and local communities based on research on the local community and industry which leads to the mutual growth of universities and local communities.” The Research Institute for Regional Cooperation performs regional cooperation research and educational projects with other research institutes affiliated to the Doheon Academic Institute. The Research Institute for Regional Cooperation focuses on related regulations, improvement of local communities, industry research and joint projects, planning·advisory service·consulting for local government projects, recommendation of internal personnel for local government advisory committee members, performance management for local government projects, information collection on central government ministry projects targeting local governments, local community research and collaborative projects, support for local governments and public organizations, support for the 6th Industry, cooperatives, and village companies.
